Holly Hunter was an American actress, who gained fame for the films Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. The film Piano won her several awards which included an Oscar. She started her career acting as an actress both on Broadway as well as Off Broadway. It has always been her passion. In fifth grade, she played Helen Keller in an original production. Following a bout of Mumps, she was deaf on one side of her ears. This was not enough to stop her desire to be an actress. The college she attended was drama after which she moved from Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania to New York City to follow her goals. In a chance encounter she became trapped in an elevator along with playwright Beth Henley and the two worked together on the Broadway Crimes of the Heart' which became Hunter's debut. As she settled in Los Angeles, she began to search for film roles. The role she was offered came as an actress supporting the leading character Swing Shift. She has since appeared in a number of films, TV series and movies over the course of a 30-year career. Holly Hunter is a Hollywood Walk of Fame famous person as well as a winner of the Women in Film Lucy Award.
