Following her graduation in Drama Centre London Duff made television appearances on Trial & Retribution Amongst Women as well as Aristocrats in the mid 1990s. Her role as a mainstream star was Fiona Gallagher in the British comedy-drama television series Shameless as well as Queen Elizabeth I on the mini-series of television The Virgin Queen.
